MY LOVE OF SMOOTHIES

If you have been following me on Instagram, you know I love smoothies. I have a little problem where smoothies are concerned though…..I always overflow my glass! I guess I need a bigger glass!

I love smoothies for breakfast especially in the warmer months.  There is nothing more tasty or refreshing than a protein smoothie loaded with all the goods! This smoothie boasts healthy fats, fibre and aids in balancing blood sugar. It keeps me full for a while! 

Some people are surprised at the addition of the avocado. Please do not be afraid of avocado my friends!! I spent too many years fearing fats. Healthy fats such as avocado, nuts, seeds, coconut oil and coconut butter are so good for you. Healthy fats have so many amazing benefits like: 

  • Balance out your blood sugar 

  • Help to curb sugar cravings

  • Heart healthy - helps to lower bad cholesterol (HDL) and increase good cholesterol (LDL)

  • Support brain health 

  • So delicious!

In addition to the healthy fats from the avocado, this smoothie has vitamin and antioxidant rich leafy greens and berries, fibre and cinnamon (which also helps balance blood sugar). 

This is hands down one my favourite smoothies. I love using Genuine Health vanilla vegan fermented protein powder in my smoothies because it supports good gut health and is easier to digest due to the fermentation process. 

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup unsweetened nut milk of choice, I like almond or cashew milk

  • 1/2 -1 frozen banana

  • 1/2 cup frozen blueberries

  • 1 -2 handfuls of spinach

  • 1 tbsp. almond or cashew butter

  • 1/4 avocado

  • 1 scoop Genuine Health vanilla vegan fermented protein powder 

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

Method:

Add everything to a high-speed blender and blend until combined and creamy. Enjoy! And try not to overflow your cup!
